We got to Haliburton this year to discover the old girl got a lovely new coat of paint!
She looks very proud in her shiny new coat. I hope it lasts a while before someone has to come along and deface it with scratches and paint bombs.
Kudos to the restoration crew….
William was very impressed……

Seed Study, a set on Flickr.
There are these seeds near my home. They look like enormous dandelions. I have no idea what they are. I stopped the van on Saturday and collected a coffee cup full.
These are results of playing around with my trusty 100mm macro and a tripod. I used my playbook as a black reflective surface.
I added a little interest with an eye dropper and a mister.
What do you think?

Meet JC. He is a lovely huge lab. He is getting older and slowing down a lot. He still swims in that lake and fetches sticks, but maybe not as energetic as in previous years.
This one is for you, JC. You are a awesome friend to my 5 year old, William.
After a swim, just warming your old bones in the sun is a very good thing.
cheers old boy.

This is our cottage road. Nikita and I love it. I wander slowly listening to all the wild life and Nikita (my crazy Husky) runs around picking up smells.
This is 7 images stitched together to get the sun filtering through the leaves.
I think it captures the mood completely.
We can’t wait to get back there.

The joy of having a good polarizing filter. I held back because of the expense of it, but when they were on sale at Henry’s I jumped in. I bought one for all my lenses.
The results are very impressive, I am kicking myself for waiting so long. This shot was taken with the noon sun overhead.
Simply worth their weight is gold….really.

Every time it snows I run out to snap a few flakes. This is tricky and cold work.

I was in the Toronto harbor yesterday on a friend’s boat. We cruzed by the Island airport as Porter Air was flying out. If you zoom image to full size you can seen a corkscrew effect behind the propellers. That was a new one for me. I love finding pleasent suprises when looking into the details.
Thx 🙂

These guys can be tough to shoot at the best of times. This year it has been very challenging. I filled the feeder and they were at it in minutes. They seemed to spook very easily though. Sitting very still by the window did not guarentee their arrival. It almost seemed started to be a cruel joke, as they seemed to appear just after I got tired and put the camera down.
cheeky monkeys!

More Macro goodness. This 100mm lens is a lot of fun. Very challenging when hand held. The DoF is very small and even a little waver in the subject will produce blurry results.
I am learning a lot about patience, especially on breezy days.
I think I also will need a quicker tripod.

Something very simple can be very elegant. I have the habit of over thinking things. This problem does show up in my photography on occasion.
Sometimes it seems that I am trying to cram too much into a shot.
I was at the cottage on the weekend and I passed this bud. It stood there alone, out of place, and surrounded by short wild flowers.
It was begging to be noticed, so I did.
I think the result has a quiet dignity.
The next day it was open, so I stopped again.
