This is 16 images….carefully focused manually.

It fakes such a deep DoF.

Thoughts?

This is my first attempt focus stacking. This is the technique of taking many photos with different focal points and merging them into a single detailed image. My 100mm lens has a very short DoF, so I took 6 photos manually focusing on different areas of the flower. I then used the CS5 to merge the images into a composite photo with this impossible depth of field. I must say it is not perfect, but I have to say that I am pretty happy with result.

More tweaking required…..

Before by Roger's Eye
Before a photo by Roger’s Eye on Flickr.

Something very simple can be very elegant. I have the habit of over thinking things. This problem does show up in my photography on occasion.

Sometimes it seems that I am trying to cram too much into a shot.

I was at the cottage on the weekend and I passed this bud. It stood there alone, out of place, and surrounded by short wild flowers.

It was begging to be noticed, so I did.

I think the result has a quiet dignity.

The next day it was open, so I stopped again.
